My name is John Chesnut.  Years ago I was involved in an accident in which I was struck by a car and rammed, full throttle, into a parked truck.  I had multiple surgeries and was unable to work my chosen profession.  Penniless I moved into a Tipi that I built in the woods near my home town of Elizabethtown, NY.  I started making children's name puzzles and went to craft shows to sell them.

  In 1993 I invented a "Money Eating" coin bank for my 5 children.  Watching the money going down the long neck made me laugh.  I took them to a craft show and sold 970 of them in 4 days!  I obtained patents and went into business making and selling my Big Belly Banks.  That was in 1993.  I believe that my banks have stood the test of time because they are: Quality, Fun, Educational, Decorative, Personalized, and a Keepsake.  Give a toy and it's played with for awhile.  Give a Big Belly Banks and it becomes a treasured keepsake.

The banks use a plastic belly that is very durable.  The two halves unscrew so that you can easily empty it and use it over and over. The Belly holds 987 quarters or about $120 in mixed change.
